Novice (9-12)

The Novice program is for swimmers 9-12 years old who are new to the sport of competitive swimming. The program places heavy emphasis on technique, beginning competition, being a part of the team, personal challenge and achievement, an increased level of fitness, and having fun! An important goal is for each athlete to develop a love for the sport of swimming through the introduction of new skills, giving athletes new and individual challenges, and helping them enjoy swimming.



Ages: 9-12
Objectives:
  • Develop a strong base level of swimming skills
  • Be introduced to swim meets and learn about being on a team
  • Begin developing self motivation
  • Advancement into the Junior program
  • Have fun
Prerequisites:
  • Evaluation by the coaching team
  • Ability to swim 25m Freestyle (Front Crawl) and 25m Backstroke
  • Knowledge of Breaststroke and Butterfly is an asset
Attendance: Attend 3 practices/week and all scheduled swim meets/team events
